Intention to Reduce Verbal Abuse Towards Adolescent In America alone, from surveys taken; researchers found out that 50 out of 90% of reported verbal abuse is directed toward adolescents.The other 40% is directed towards all other age groups and the remaining 10% are the adolescent in America who don’t experience verbal abuse in their home (The Brown University Child Adolescent Psychopharmacology). A social issue is obstacle that many people face and is wrong but seems normal from how often it occurs. In this case verbal abuse from parents towards adolescent is very common in homes today and has been on the rise in the past years, yet many cases are unreported leaving verbal abuse an unaware topic. Another cause of verbal abuse found in research was mentally ill and unstable parents. Emma Durocher, for example, â€Å"was raised by two people, each with several undiagnosed mental illnesses† (Durocher). Even though this cause of abuse isn’t as common as cultural discipline the effects still result the same. The major causes of verbal abuse found through research is cultural discipline from parents or guardians. In most countries there is absolutely no difference in the exposure to violence, regardless of socioeconomic factors, whether they are rich or poor.
